Context Support the Cyber Essentials Scheme
The Cyber Essentials scheme has been developed by Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) with support of CESG and industry to fulfil two functions. It provides a clear statement of the basic controls all organisations should implement to mitigate the risk from common internet based threats, within the context of the Government’s 10 Steps to Cyber Security. Through the Assurance Framework it offers a mechanism for organisations to demonstrate to customers, investors, insurers and others that they have taken these essential precautions.
Context has been approved as a certifying body by CREST to provide services under the Cyber Essentials scheme. Context’s Assurance Director Owen Wright says “We’re proud to be a part of the scheme working with CREST to accredit organisations with a level of security assurance. I’m sure we’ll have a lot of involvement in the delivery of Cyber Essentials + also.”
Cyber Essentials + provides a higher level of assurance through the assessment of end-user devices used within the company. This directly tests that individual controls have been implemented correctly and recreates various attack scenarios to determine whether a system compromise using basic capabilities can be achieved.
