Dan

Dan is a Trainee Security Consultant in our Assurance team and performs penetration tests, which involves identifying vulnerabilities, and making recommendations to clients on how to defend their systems against real-world attackers.

What are your tips for someone interested in a career in information security?
I chose some security modules as part of my Computer Science degree at university and found them really interesting. Trying your hand at some publicly-available security challenges is a good way to get started.

What do you most enjoy about your job?
Developing a detailed proof-of-concept that really demonstrates to a client the potential impact of a vulnerability, or chain of vulnerabilities.

What work do you get involved in on a day to day basis?
I perform web application tests, external infrastructure tests, and build reviews. These are done both remotely from the office and on-site for clients, followed by writing detailed reports on the findings and recommendations.

What do you enjoy most about working at Context?
Context is full of many talented people, and to be surrounded by technical experts is really helpful when you need advice, and also motivates me to develop my own skills further.

Jacek

Jacek is a technical consultant in our Assurance Team, and is based in our Germany office.

Why did you choose a career in cyber security?
I am passionate about what I do so I feel very lucky that I was able to make a career out of my hobby.

What do you most enjoy about your job?

I enjoy the variety of opportunities at Context. I like to learn and share new ideas and methods with my colleagues – and of course the fact that I’m allowed to try and break into things without getting into trouble (just kidding!).

What is it like working for Context?
When I first joined Context, I was a bit overwhelmed by the possibilities here (Assurance, Response or Research?) but now I’ve come to realise it’s great fun to work with so many talented and motivated individuals who all have their own niche knowledge areas. This is also very helpful when you are faced with a really challenging or an unusual problem!

Your highlight of the year?
This year I got the opportunity to go to Blackhat and Defcon!

Bernhard

Bernhard is one of our technical consultants; he conducts security assessments of web and mobile applications, network infrastructures and reviews.

Why did you choose a career in cyber security?
As I have always had an affection for technology and its ongoing development, I found this field to be challenging and fascinating on both a logical and creative level of thinking.

What is it like working for Context?
Working at Context is both tough and easy which gives you the opportunity to personally grow and specialise as a professional. For example when conducting penetration testing you are always challenged to think outside the box. You also gain a lot of experience in the IT security field and get to work on real-world scenarios where you can help improve the customer’s security in order to prevent data loss or damage. There’s always the opportunity to learn new technologies and work with highly professional colleagues to share and develop your knowledge.

What’s the best thing about working at Context?

I love the great working relationship between everyone at Context. You always feel welcome no matter which office you walk into, even if you don’t know everyone. Besides that – breaking stuff!

Samuel

Samuel is one of our Sales Executives; his job involves identifying new clients, meeting them and developing a relationship with them for the long term.

Why did you choose a career in cyber security?

I chose to pursue a career within this sector for three reasons: the work is interesting, the client-base is wide and varied and the sector is growing.

What work do you get involved in on a day to day basis?

On a day to day basis I have client meetings, work on scoping technical work for my clients, writing new business proposals and working with the technical team here at Context.

What do you most enjoy about your job?

Thankfully I derive a lot of satisfaction from my job but the thing I most enjoy is meeting potential clients, hearing about the problems they face and working with them to find a solution.

What’s the best thing about working at Context?

From a personal and sales perspective – the people. Every member of staff at Context is open, friendly and great to be around, they all happen to be great at their jobs too which makes selling the company much easier than it otherwise might be in such a busy market. Further to this Context is held in very high esteem throughout the industry which makes it satisfying to know you work for a company that other people respect and want to emulate.
