As global sales director at Context, Andrew looks after everything commercial, from defining strategy for a new service-line or expanding into new geographies, to refining Context business methodologies and processes. He also works closely with new starters at Context to support them through the graduate programme and help them develop into new roles. Andrew has worked in IT Security since he graduated university with a degree in Information Systems Design. Before Andrew joined Context he worked for a software/hardware reseller and moved into security consultancy in 2005, just in time to get stuck into PCI DSS.
I did my degree dissertation on 802.1x wireless security standards, so IT security is in my blood. Having a degree in IT and going into the commercial world isn’t that usual, but having a strong technical background and a keen interest in technology is definitely an advantage. My expertise is in working to get the very best out of people and to ensure we deliver excellent account management and support for all our clients. It is also very rewarding to help nurture some of the UK’s brightest young talent into seasoned business development professionals and see them reach their goals.
I’m passionate about increasing the security posture of our clients – whether it is increasing the security of a web application or getting a board of directors to recognise threats and how to protect their business. Providing expert advice and delivering quality services to make a difference, is very important, both personally and as a team.
At Context, we love to win new business but retaining clients is what is more important to us. Our client base grows annually and clients we signed up 10 years ago are still working with us today. Having worked for Context since 2007, I’ve seen it grow from 14 to 200 people and have held five roles in my time here. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and excited about the future.
